Yuri Pattison will be presenting solo exhibition, Free Traveller, at London’s Cell Project Space, opening September 17 and running to November 2.

Pattison draws on the island as utopian metaphor across texts and locations from 1985 anonymously published travelogue Visit Port Watson! to bizarre Berlin pleasure dome Tropical Islands. The exhibition will function across video and installation in the physical space of Cell Projects, as well as online within a temporary as-yet-unreleased URL address to be activated for the duration of the show.

As an artist exploring the real world effects of online activity within a historical, political and economic context, the Free Traveller exhibition looks at mobility beyond the abstract freedoms its promoters purport to offer and suggests a more insidious restraint that gives new meaning to internet tethering.
